‘A Lion Called Christian’ launch

A lion called christian
On Saturday 28 January, John Rendall of Christian The Lion-fame will launch his book in Constantia, Cape Town. The launch will take place at the elegant five-star Conservatory at the Cellars-Hohenort and will comprise a lunch paired with Leopard's Leap wines.

Head chef Ryan Josten will prepare a delectable menu including local octopus carpaccio, slow braised Karoo lamb shoulder and a white chocolate and vanilla panna cotta. Guests will stand a chance to win Wordsworth book vouchers, copies of 'A Lion Called Christian', beauty treatment vouchers and breakfast and dinner at the Conservatory.

The story of the book, which became an internet phenomenon, is the true story of two friends who bought a lion cub from Harrods in London and brought it up in their flat. Christian soon grew from a cuddly cub to the 'King of King's Road', drawing crowds and making friends. As he grew too big, it was decided to fly him over to Kenya to live there. It was there that the famed reunion took place.

This moving book gives magnificent insight into the sentience of animals. The launch luncheon is R225 per person. Book by phoning Astrid at The Greenhouse at 021 794 2137 during weekdays. Credit card details must be provided to book.
