Dorp van die Jaar winner announced



Kwêla and Rapport have announced the winner of the 'Dorp van die Jaar' competition, of which Leopard's Leap is a sponsor. The Western Cape's entry, De Rust, was chosen as the winner.

De Rust will receive marketing to the value of R1 million from Rapport and another R1 million from KykNet; a wine course for hospitality staff from De Rust, presented by the Cape Wine Academy and sponsored by Leopard’s Leap Wines; as well as a ‘makietie’ celebration for the town on 20 August, including a marquee and farmers’ market, where two new De Rust signage boards will be unveiled and the Dorp van die Jaar trophy will be presented.

Nestled between the Swartberg and Kammanassie Mountains, De Rust is the gateway between the Klein Karoo and Great Karoo. An ideal country getaway destination for all, the town is well known for its excellent dessert wines; pot-stilled brandy, fruit and mountain spring water. 

“On behalf of Leopard’s Leap, I would like to congratulate the town of De Rust. We look forward to making our contribution to the town by covering the costs of a wine training course by the Cape Wine Academy for a number of staff in the service and hospitality industry,” says Hein Koegelenberg, CEO of Leopard’s Leap Wines.
