Leopard’s Leap sponsors Cape Times Literary Lunch

Cape_times
This past Saturday, 4 August saw Leopard’s Leap Wines sponsoring it’s third Literary Lunch, hosted by the regional daily newspaper, The Cape Times. Featuring local author Deon Meyer, who spoke about his latest novel, Devil’s Peak, the event was held at the five star Cape Grace Hotel’s one.restaurant, situated at the V&A Waterfront.

Cape Times book-loving readers were treated to flowing Leopard’s Leap, while being introduced to the brand by multi-award-winning winemaker, Eugene Van Zyl, who offered the following pairing suggestions:

Welcome drink: Leopard’s Leap Lookout Red

Starters: Smoked venison carpaccio with vegetable tartare, rocket salad and olive dressing with Leopard’s Leap Pinotage Shiraz blend

Main course: Cajun spiced chicken on three bean casoulet, rosti potatoe, portabello mushroom and parsely veloute with Leopard’s Leap Chardonnay OR Lookout Red

Featured novel: Devil’s Peak
Feted as SA’s best crime write by international site, Crime Time, this is author Deon Meyer’s second novel featuring former freedom fighter Thobela (Tiny) Mpayipheli.

Set in post-apartheid South Africa, where corruption is endemic and crime is out of control, the lead character is battling to come to terms with the death of his eight-year-old adopted son, who was killed in a violent robbery.

When those responsible escape punishment Thobela turns vigilante and seeks out those who have evaded justice after committing crimes against children. Knowing the identity of the killer does not reduce the suspense of the plot as we follow gifted, drunk Inspector Benny Griessel in his attempts to hunt this populist predator.
