Shiraz Experience at La Motte



Our sister estate, La Motte, hosted their annual Shiraz Experience today. The purpose of the event is for Shiraz producers, agents and other actors in the wine industry to discuss this exciting varietal, and especially how South African Shiraz weighs up against its international counterparts. This is done through a blind tasting of 12 wines. This year, following compelling speeches and presentations by Lynne Sherriff, Master of Wine, and Geoff Merrill, the well-known Australian winemaker, guests took part in the tasting. Wines included in the tasting incluedd Shiraz and Syrah from Penfolds, La Motte, Eagle's Nest, Boekenhoutskloof and Hill of Grace.

This symposium is an excellent promotional vehicle for Shiraz and its future in South Africa, and Leopard's Leap's wine maker and team learnt a great deal.
