The Perfect Pancake Recipe
Traditional South African pancakes are served with cinnamon sugar and usually, a cup of tea or coffee. We think they work well with a glass of bubbly too - especially if you do a savoury interpretation.
Pancake Recipe
Makes 20
4 cups cake flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
Salt
4 eggs
2 teaspoons white vinegar
1 cup sunflower oil
4 cups water
Combine all the ingredients and whisk until smooth. Leave for at least 30 minutes before baking.

Serve with your choice of sweet or savoury. Cinnamon sugar is the traditional sweet, but you can drizzle honey or even fill them with caramel. For a light meal you can fill them with savoury mince or creamy chicken. For a touch of luxury, top your pancake with crème fraiche, trout caviar, fresh dill and cracked pepper, squeeze a little lemon juice and serve it with a delicious glass of our Culinaria MCC.
