2010 PULITZER PRIZES

2010 PULITZER PRIZES

The winners of the 2010 Pulitzer Prizes were announced on 12 April. The prizes are awarded by Columbia University for distinguished writing in journalism, drama and music by American writers. The Pulitzer Prize for Fiction has been awarded since 1948 to an American author, preferably dealing with the subject matter of American life. Notable previous winners include Ernest Hemingway, Norman Mailer, Harper Lee, John Updike and Anne Tyler. Timeless modern classics like American Pastoral by Philip Roth, Beloved by Toni Morrison and The Shipping News by Annie Proulx all have the iconic gold winner’s seal on their covers, and the prize is considered to be a litmus test of the state of American fiction.

This year, the winner is Tinkers by Paul Harding. Read more about the book here
