Escape the Breeze Wine Cocktail
Escape the Breeze is all about slowing things down and warming up those wintery moments. With its combination of Merlot, citrus, and a hint of spice, it’s a light and easy-drinking cocktail that feels just right for a relaxed afternoon with friends.
Ingredients
25ml Leopard’s Leap Classic Merlot
20ml Brandy
15ml Fresh lemon juice
10ml Simple syrup
Ginger ale (to top)
Bitters
Sugar (for light rim, optional)
Orange garnish (fresh or dehydrated)
White sugar
Fresh lime
Ice
Method:
1. Chill the glass.
2. While the glass is chilling, prepare the bitters sugar rim. Add a few dashes of bitters to a small amount of sugar and mix until lightly stained.
3. Run a lime wedge around the rim of the glass, then dip the rim into the bitters sugar to coat lightly – keep the rim subtle.
4. Build the cocktail base by adding the following ingredients to the shaker: Merlot, brandy, fresh lemon juice, and simple syrup.
5. Shake with ice for 10-15 seconds until well chilled.
6. Strain the cocktail into the prepared glass over fresh ice.
7. Top with ginger ale and finish with 2-3 dashes of bitters.
8. Garnish with a fresh orange slice or dehydrated orange.
