Come over for a braai!
In September we celebrate our heritage and shared love for the braai. The braai is about more than the food and wine - as much as we love them. It is also about the people who join us around the fire. This year, we invite you over for a braai!
It's Back!
The Leopard's Leap Braai-inspired highlight is the return of our popular South African Table on 18 September with a heritage-inspired braai table! Just in time for Heritage Month celebrations, guests are invited to take a seat at the generous table in the vibey Leopard's Leap kitchen for an introduction to how the melting pot that is South African culture has influenced our food traditions and styles of cooking.
With a fresh interpretation by newly appointed Executive Chef, Stephan Moolman and hosted by Head Chef William Carolissen, the South African Table brings together foodies and friends for a relaxed Friday afternoon lunch of typical South African dishes, beautifully complemented by wines from Leopard's Leap's premium Culinaria Collection.

The Braaibroodjie
We can’t think of a more authentic or more delicious way to celebrate the taste of South Africa, than with Chenin Blanc or Pinotage in your glass and an original braaibroodjie!
The braaibroodjie is a humble dish, but it tells the story of South Africa’s love for braai. You don’t need exceptional skill to make a delicious braaibroodjie, you just need the right combination of ingredients. As it goes with all traditional recipes though, everyone has a secret or a favourite ingredient. To add chutney or not, sourdough or a plain white loaf, the selection of cheese, the cut of the tomato and onion, spreading the butter into the corners… all of these are much cause for debate around a fire…
The Leopard’s Leap braaibroodjie is a favourite of guests for many years and in celebration of Braai Day, you can join us for a South African Tasting featuring this traditional delight with a tasting of two stalwart local varieties, Pinotage and Chenin Blanc.
Braaibroodjie paired with our trio of Chenin Blancs and duo of Pinotages (read more below): R180 per person. Tuesday to Sunday.
Sunshine in your glass
You might know Chenin Blanc best as a refreshing summer sipper and enjoying glass of our Classic Chenin Blanc on a sunny afternoon is surely a thing of joy, but there can be much more to the variety when you choose a complex oaked like our Culinaria Chenin Blanc or even the every-so-charming Sweet Chenin Blanc!
Chenin Blanc is a wonderful choice to enjoy in celebration of Heritage Day. Believed to be amongst the first vine cuttings that arrived here in 1655 during the time of Governor Jan van Riebeeck. Then known as steendruif, it was one of the three grape varieties first pressed in South Africa on 2 February, 1659.
By 1988, Chenin accounted for 33.2% of the national vineyard in terms of the area covered, but today it is a stable 18% of South African plantings, but still the most widely planted variety. South Africa is considered to have pioneered a new generation of original and versatile styles, inspiring others across the world to find their own unique expressions.
Our South African Tasting presents:
• Leopard’s Leap Classic Chenin Blanc
• Culinaria Chenin Blanc
• Culinaria Sweet Chenin
The Heritage Grape
The story of Pinotage starts in 1925, when Professor Perold successfully crossed Pinot Noir and Cinsault, known then as Hermitage. From here the name Pino – tage. A truly South African variety.
From the start wine grape producers were excited about this new variety with vines that stayed healthy and vigorous and grapes that ripened early, easily achieved high sugar levels. The early wines also showed a deeper, more intense ruby colour than either parent varietal.
As part of our South African tasting you can try:
• Leopard’s Leap Classic Pinotage
• Special Edition Pinotage
