#DrinkChenin Day has become a highlight on the international wine calendar since its inception in 2014 and one which truly shines the spotlight on South African Chenin Blanc, engaging millions of wine consumers across the world each year across industry events, at cellar doors and on social media. It is celebrated on the 2nd weekend of June, each year.
The first #DrinkChenin Day was celebrated in New York and 10 other cities across the USA in 2014. Although the June date was picked for the northern hemisphere summer, it actually put the spotlight on the diversity of Chenin Blanc.
In 2016 ,the Chenin Blanc Association and Wines of South Africa (WOSA – Europe, USA and Japan) is actively supporting the campaign by facilitating special Chenin tastings and activities and celebrating Chenin Blanc in June.
#FandeChenin was created in France in 2017 and developed by the Anjou Saumur Wine Federation. In true reflection of the close relationship between the Loire Valley and South Africa, joins in celebrating the day, each year.
The campaign was joined by Australia’s Swan Valley producers in 2019 and has expanded to an international celebration of Chenin Blanc, by Chenin lovers from all over the world.
While #DrinkChenin Day is on 10 June 2023, we're celebrating for the whole month leading up to the event.
