The 14th of February is getting closer, and if you're planning on having dinner at home, there are many ingredients with aphrodisiac qualities to consider. Any meal can be a romantic experience, but if you want to impress you can include these tried and tested 'romantic' delights:
- Caviar. The high zinc amounts in this luxurious treat raises testosterone levels. Pair with Leopard's Leap 2010 Chardonnay to cut through the sharp salinity of the caviar.
- Asparagus. These versatile vegetables contain folic acid, which is said to increase histamine production. Pair with Leopard's Leap 2010 Sauvignon Blanc. The tropical grapefruit tones in the wine will complement the asparagus' fresh grassy taste.
- Oysters. Similar to caviar, they also have high zinc levels.Pair with a crisp white or a sparkling wine or MCC. Leopard's Leap's Chardonnay has a citrus minerality that goes well with shellfish.
- Chocolate. Research has shown that dark chocolate contains several feel-good compounds that raise levels of excitement and happiness. Pair with Leopard's Leap 2009 Shiraz. This velvety wine's spice, floral and black pepper nose will complement any chocolate dish.
