Rosé de Bastille Wine Cocktail
Our Rosé de Bastille wine cocktail is inspired by the relaxed pleasures of the French lifestyle – lazy lunches, garden get-togethers and pleasant conversations over a glass of rosé.
A fun and contemporary South African interpretation of French café culture, this light and refreshing cocktail enhances the delicate floral notes and fresh citrus of our Leopard’s Leap Rosé. Exactly what you should be sipping on during the French celebrations in July!
Ingredients
60ml Leopard’s Leap Rosé
30ml Lillet Rosé Aperitif (or Rosé Vermouth)
30ml Floral gin
60ml Sparkling water
2 dashes orange bitters
Ice
Fresh thyme sprig
Grapefruit twist or wedge
Optional garnish: Edible flowers
Method
1. Fill a large wine glass (or stemmed goblet) with fresh ice and allow it to chill while preparing the cocktail.
2. Add the Leopard’s Leap Rosé, Lillet Rosé (or Rosé Vermouth), floral gin and orange bitters to a mixing glass or cocktail shaker filled with ice.
3. Stir gently for 15-20 seconds until the mixture is well chilled. Avoid vigorous shaking, as the goal is to preserve the wine’s delicate fruit and floral character.
4. Discard any excess water from the chilled wine glass and fill with fresh ice if required.
5. Strain the cocktail into the prepared glass.
6. Top with sparkling water and give the drink a gentle stir to combine.
7. Garnish with a fresh thyme sprig and a grapefruit twist or wedge. For an extra celebratory touch, add edible flowers.
8. Serve immediately and enjoy well chilled.
