SHAKESPEARE, WORLD BOOK DAY AND A CELEBRATION OF LITERATURE

World Book Day celebrates William Shakespeare’s birthday in April (he was born in April 1564) as well as the 400th anniversary of his death on 23 April (he died on this date in 1616). The Book Lounge and Fugard Theatre, therefore, presents a week packed full of events from 19 to 23 April. See below!

In addition to the events for the public, we will be running events at several schools, including St Mary’s Primary School (the focus of the Open Book Library Project). Gary Hirson will be joining us on the 19th of April to speak to Grade 3 learners to tie in with the handover of the 4th Open Box to the school. Grade R learners will get to enjoy a storytime and activity run by some of the passionate Book Lounge staff!
